This report evaluates how the people of Dominica were affected by hurricane David, which hit the Caribbean on 29 August 1979. It analyzes the impact of the hurricane on houseing, agriculture, employment, food supply, etc., and examines the reconstruction process. The authors give special emphasis to health problems (injuries and illness, medical treatment, communicable diseases, and the impact on pregnant women). It presents a series of conclusions and lessons learned.
